I thought I'd just start at the beginning. I want to share all that God has done for us throughout this journey. I also want to journal it for myself, so bear with the details!
Our plan for Spring Break had been to head back to Guatemala to see La P. Those plans were changed in January when some misinformation was shared with the orphanage and we were asked to cut our ties with them.
We were so devastated during that time. To take our minds off of the sadness, we planned a ski trip for Spring Break week. Several families considered going, but only our friends, Jason, Lacey & their kids went with us. Another family planned on joining us later in the week.
I had a hard time getting prepared for the trip. Life had been crazy with The King working in Boston again and his quick trip to Guatemala to reconcile with the orphanage. He arrived home the day before we were to leave.
Just before our departure, I had to take my mom's car to the airport so that she'd have it when they returned from thier long trip to South Africa. On the way to the airport, I was driving mom's car along a really long straight stretch. The thought entered my mind, "I bet that people leaving the airport are busy checking their emails and texts and I should probably be really alert in case a car crossed into my lane".
Serious. That specific.
About 10 seconds later, the car coming toward me completely entered my lane heading right for me.
I swerved to the shoulder and avoided a disastrous accident.
I knew without a doubt that God had intervened.
We met Jason, Lacey & their kids just after that and I shared with them what had happened. We all commented on God's presence and prayed together for a safe trip.
Then we headed for Colorado on that Friday evening (the 19th), with the intention of driving all night.
We were doing great until about 3 a.m. when Jason & Lacey's alternator went out. We were pulled over at the Loaf & Jug (so not kidding) for 6 hours, waiting for a new alternator.
We had to sleep in the vehicles, which were attached with a battery cable so that their car would have heat. I sort of worried that somebody would get crabby. It was really cold...we were up all night with a long drive still ahead.
That crabby person would most likely have been me.
Amazingly, we joked and laughed all night.
About 9 a.m., the traveling mechanic showed up.
I have to say, a mechanic with a duct taped window does not offer much confidence.
However. He had the alternator replaced in 30 minutes and we were on our way.
As we began driving west, we noted that the Loaf & Jug was the last stop for hundreds of miles.
Literally.
I think we were broken down at the last possible safe spot.
Somewhere in those hundreds of lonely miles, our gas light came on. There wasn't a town anywhere near us. We drove over 60 miles with the low fuel light on before coming to a gas station.
Each of these things reminded us to call upon God. He was so very near to us.
We arrived in Pagosa Springs Saturday evening. After picking up our skis and purchasing a week's worth of groceries, we settled in a beautiful home and prepared to enjoy a wonderful week of skiing.
To be continued...
Wow, wow and wow. And wow. Can't wait to hear the rest of the story.

Wow...all I can think about is how the devil is a prowling lion looking for someone to destroy. What an amazing testimony to God's love and protection!

Girl, I have not been keeping up with my blog reading since our spring break and finally just settled in to catch up with those I follow. My word your world has flipped upside down a few times in the weeks I have missed. Praying for you and yours in everything!!!
Congrats on the good news with La P. praying for many more good tidings on that front.
The whole brain cyst thing has to have thrown you for a loop, and I am glad it is working out now and that surgery went well. will pray for an easy and speedy recovery and that the King doesnt get too bored. I know if my husband had to not do any of the things you listed for 30 days I would need a straight jacket(more likely for me than him) because he would amuse himself by driving me nuts, so I will pray for you that that isnt the case either.
The Lord is good all the time and it sounds like he has surely been with you every step of the way.
Blessings to you and yours.

Seems like God was alerting you to His Presence so that when you needed Him the most, you'd know right where to find Him!!
He is so good to us, isn't He?!

Oh the wonders of Him. So glad that you weren't hit, broke down in a safe spot and had the fumes to keep going!

God is SOOO AMAZING!!
Your experience and the faith and trust in God in your reaction/response have been very uplifting to me. I haven't been able to read any of the updates without feeling God sooo very present. I have felt HIM in such an overwhelming way, personally. Thank you for including all of us on this journey.
I will continue to pray for you and yours. Take care and call if I can do anything.
