So The King's been working in Boston.
Since mid-October.
He has finally come home.
I would not even consider complaining...I'm so thankful that he has work. I know there are many in need of a job right now.
However.
We are kind of in that re-entry phase.
We are getting adjusted to living together again.
And I'm reacquainting myself with the massive amount of laundry he creates.
During his time away, The Princess and I did ok. We were not afraid.
Except for once.
We had a little visitor on our front porch.
Nothing major.
Just, you know, a bear.
A BLACK BEAR.
Thankfully, we only heard it and saw its bear prints.
And the carnage of my little Japanese maple.
I looked up info on what to do if we meet Mr. Bear face to face.
The info said not to block his exit.
REALLY. Well that's incredibly helpful. I'll try to go against my natural instinct and not stand in the way of his departure route.
(You caught the part where I said it was on my front porch, right?)
But back to The King.
He is now in Guatemala.
I really, really can't wait to share La P news with you.
I need to wait until a few details are worked out, though.
God has recently opened doors that have blown me away.
He has shown His power. He has (again) demonstrated that He is in control of all things.
Our adoption is in no way imminent. But I do believe that she will be here soon.
I have no reason to expect it.
I just believe it.
La P and The King skyped The Princess and me tonight.
(Is skype a verb?)
The Princess showed her two of the kittens and she said (in Spanish), "My cats at my house!"
And then she started petting the screen.
We sent her a coat and a My Little Pony and some Christmas hair bows. My mother-in-law sent her a few pairs of pjs and a pink crocheted hat.
During our conversation, La P tried it all on and modeled for us.
When we were telling her bye, she kissed the screen and said (in Spanish), "I love you, Mommy".
I hadn't heard her little voice since July.
If you think about it, please pray for us this week. The King is working so hard to bring her home. He will be meeting with officials in a foreign land. He will be sharing with them what has been on our hearts since we met her...
She is a 6 year old girl with a tumor on her face that is growing. The tumor and scar tissue and bone fragments rest dangerously close to her optic nerve.
Her eye does not sit in the right spot. Her nose is misshapen. She has chronic sinus issues.
The King sent me a picture and she appears to be wearing her bangs so that they cover that side of her face.
She has been abandoned since birth.
She needs a family.
And a family needs her.
Still praying!

Well, NO wonder you've been so quiet lately... husbandless and black bears. That would be enough to just about take me under, too. And I thought "my" skunks and wild pigs were rough - a bear? Wow.
Praying for La P and the King this week. Can hardly wait to hear the details.

bless her heart! and yours too!
And don't leave any food out where the bears can get it. Soon they will hybernate. And hopefully they will soon learn that humans have moved in and leave you alone.
and you could call the game commissioner or warden and they can capture and relocate them if they are a problem. I have a friend who has taken them on their property, huge acreage by Beaver Lake.

Well, I officially had goosebumps through your whole post, and most of it had nothing to do with your crazy black bear experience. :-). I love hearing this update on La P and that the King is there fighting on her behalf as any father would. God's ways are higher than our ways and his thoughts are so much higher than our thoughts. Can't wait to see him unfold a miracle in your family's life. I am here watching and waiting and clicking on your little page like every day. :-) Blessings to you!

Also? Can't wait to see how you decorate the new house.
Um, a bear? GAH!

Praying, praying, praying, praying...
I was thinking about you all the other day. About how you didn't want to go on that mission. I remember. It has spoken volumes in my life, what has come out of it.

Praying still that your sweet girl will come home to you soon. Um, a BEAR? Ashamed now for freaking out at a tiny spider today!

I think of you guys often, and always hope for an update on La P. I'm so glad to hear them when you do update.
I am praying for you, and for her. I hope it is soon.

Thanks be to God this Thanksgiving week! Okay, so it was last week. Sue me. But I'm praying for y'all. And I truly believe that this is a Guatemala adoption that SHOULD happen. An older child, with special needs, claims you as her own? It's supposed to happen. And it will.
Oh, and Skype? Can be a noun OR a verb. You're good.
