That title would be a direct quote of The Princess.
The King's given me 5 minutes with the wireless card.
We've been without power since 1:00 p.m. Tuesday. It is not supposed to be back on until Saturday.
THAT IS NOT GOOD, PEOPLE.
We are currently sitting in the dark, listening to all of our trees break and fall.
It's comforting.
I will try to take pictures of serious natural destruction tomorrow...if The King will allow me the privilege of using the wireless card and computer.
I'd say it's 50/50 right now.
Here are the positives:
We have hot water.
We have Diet Mountain Dew.
We have a fireplace.
We don't have much firewood, but unfortunately, we have 147 trees down in our yard and The King has a saw.
We have blankets.
We have those little white powdered donuts.
Our toilets flush.
The three of us are hanging out together.
I'm looking on the bright side, don't you think?
If I don't freeze overnight, I'll be back tomorrow...
we were once without power for 10 days. i had hot water, gas heat and a stove. but i also had a 10 month old and a 2 year old.

I'm watching TWC, I need to get my updates on how you are from a reliable source who won't over exaggerate the situation, like Guns Cantore. He's on the scene.
Be safe. And warm. Thinking of you.

Please don't freeze. I will be sad.
I'm pretty sure Diet Mountain Dew and teeny powdered donuts will keep you going as your body generates heat trying to burn off the sugar overload. So don't fret.
How's the Princess? Fever down? Been praying for her.
And not to rub it in, but it was 74 and sunny here today. We played outside in shorts and tshirts. We were able to squeak in JUST below that cold front line. I think it will be significantly colder tomorrow, but no ice predicted.
Keep me posted on your frozen, powerless, broken tree filled status!

I hope The Princess is feeling better.
Bless your hearts. I hope your power come on riiiigggghhhht now. :)
I am praying mine doesn't go out! If we freeze to death it will be all my fault because I didn't want a wood burning fireplace when we built our house...and the hubby so sweetly reminds me of that face every time there is a danger of freezing to death.

Oh, and if you can get out and need to go somewhere, you know you all are welcome here. And I mean that for real.

ok - i'm so keeping you guys in our prayers. it's fun to have these 'adventures' together for a while, then it sets in. hope you have power again soon. we've been without water a lot this week due to a busted water line in our neighborhood, so let me just say - be thankful for flushing toilets:)

ooo yikes! I sure hope you get power soon! I mean as long as you can go potty and have mt dew and doughnuts you are set!

Be safe and be warm. If you want to load up the palace and drive to TX come on the door is open!

Oh, stay safe and warm!

That actually sounds like fun! Okay, so I'm weird...but, you already knew that ;)
As long as the toilets flush, I'd say you're good.

Thinking of you all. Hang in there. Glad your family is together and that you have your supply of Diet Dew.

Personally, I would have to put flushing toilets at the top of the list. Especially if there's plenty of Diet Mountain Dew around. I thank God every day for indoor plumbing. I would never had made it as a pioneer.
Keep focusing on the positives!

Oh dear! That is a little scary. I hope your power comes back quickly.
Posted by: bindersbee | January 28, 2009 at 09:21 AM
I am grateful you have donuts and working
toilets. I pray the Princess will
get better soon.
The King doesn't need to be stingy with
the card, he might want a donut. A girl has to have connections to the outside world.
Hope power is restored soon. Stay safe and
warm.

You got me at the little white powdered donuts. I mean really, heaven in a bag! YUM! Praying they get your power on soon. But even then, you can still have the donuts!
Posted by: Mari Taylor | January 28, 2009 at 10:03 AM
Positives: You have a candle stash. You like to play board games. You like to read.
Diet Mt. Dew. Powdered doughnuts. Flushing toilets.
Negatives: You are cold. 147 downed trees.
10 days from closing on the house. Princess sick. Animals freaking out.
I'm so sorry you are having all these problems. Praying for you and my Princess.
It's 72, sunny and...well, that's mean so I won't finish that.

I hope your power comes back on today... somehow! On one hand it sounds nice to have a couple days of NOTHING to do but then I remember that I have four munchkins who would have gone stir-crazy after the first four hours. Then it doesn't sound like much fun. =0( Hope your toilets keep flushing, your mountain dew supply never dwindles and you don't tire of powdered donuts. Frankly, I don't see how anyone could get sick of those. =0) Hope to hear from you again soon. Hang in there.

I feel for you. We were in Arkansas for the big ice storm several years ago and a lovely tree cracked and fell across the brand new van we'd only had for 2 1/2 months.
Stay warm and hang in there. we're all thinking about you.

Oh, this is not good! So sorry to hear that you are without power. I'm thinking the king is probably enjoying this a little bit, kind of like a camping challenge or something. Let us know if you need anything. You are welcome here! We have power...

Make some s'mores on that fire, read by candlelight, have some wine, or hot cocoa, and really try to make the best of it. 'cause otherwise, it's going to suck. Pardon my french.

Did it at least delay the due date of the Science Project?
I was wondering how you were. My family is in north central Arkansas (Mountain Home to be exact) and their predicament is much like yours. Except they don't personally have 147 trees. They only have about five or six each. And although they all live in pretty much the same subdivision within less than a mile of each other, one of the three is on a different electric company provider, so two houses have electricity and one doesn't, and that helps. But I don't think they have little white powdered donuts, only peanut butter.
Praying that The Princess gets better despite all this craziness.

Oh yikes! We had 2 different ice storms last year in Missouri and they were just plain crazy. We lost power as well. Good thing you have the fireplace and also those little white powdered doughnuts. That should keep you solid for at least a couple of days!! Hang in there. You are definitely doing good and looking on the bright side. :-)
