I love the changing of the seasons.
I love the impeding weather changes.
I love the impending wardrobe changes.
I love the impending decor changes.
Fall is my favorite season to anticipate.
Fall colors. Fall smells. Fall clothes.
However.
I am significantly disturbed by a trend that has become more and more a part of fall decor...
The Owl.
I do not wish to offend any fans of the owl.
I appreciate that there are those of you who find them appealing.
I just don't.
They creep me out.
The eyes.
The eyes that NEVER STOP FOLLOWING YOU.
And the spinning head.
The head that NEVER STOPS SPINNING...ALL THE WAY AROUND.
I'm not sure when owls became a major fall contributor.
I don't think of owls when I think of leaves and pumpkins and cinnamon and cider.
So I was minding my own business in a local craft store today when I felt someone watching me.
I slowly turned...
There they were.
Stalking me.
I went to the next aisle.
Disturbing...
Creepy... and what the heck is that bowl about...?
Is it an alien owl?
Really? Even the spreaders?
I couldn't get away from their eyes.
I tried to turn my attention to the other fall decorations. There were some nice things.
And some bizarre things.
Like square pumpkins.
And candles with sprinkles?
And shiny corn?
I really had to check out that shiny corn.
The orange marker totally made it authentic.
I'll balance out my bad fall attitude with a post about lovely fall things soon.
Please know that no owls were harmed in the writing of this post.

That bowl is totally creeping me out!!

AFter this post I will happily never look at an owl ever the same. Ever.

They seem so 70s. I am a firm believer that anyone who actually lived through the 70s, has no desire to return to them. Just my theory.

Okay then. Some owls sure can be creepy, like that bowl. Eeek. My MIL likes owls and I'm okay with the not so creepy ones too. I need to know what store you were in though, I did see a present for her in that mix. Heehee. Please message me, please.

Not an owl fan either. Reminds me too much of my artist aunt's home in the 70's - complete with almost-black-but-really-brown wood tones, orange shag carpet, and orange plastic beads hanging in doorways where the doors had been removed.
I was at Hobby Lobby this past week and noticed the same trend. I didn't even want to walk down the fall aisle yet but since they were out I thought I would since I'm on the hunt for a large acorn like one I purchased last year. My mom loved it and I wanted to try to find one for her. Not a single acorn! (But plenty of owls.)

I think Owls are susposed to be good luck? like having Elephant statues turned a certain way? I used to babysit for a woman that collected Owls. She had 1 child and we used to watch TV at night but he had a bed time. Owls? Stare at you while you watch tv!

I've noticed a lot of owls this season too. Not a fan. At. All.

Interesting. I was going to say, "I don't like owls either. They are too '70s for me." But apparently, I'm not alone.
Owls are icky. We should make a bumper sticker.

Owls must be the new clowns for you. You have always hated clowns. I was eating out the other night a six adults came in dressed in clowns with full makeup. Creepy!

I have never noticed an increase in owl appearances, in the fall! But now that I have read this post, I bet I will! It always happens that way.

Lol! I just finished a 750 piece puzzle of an owl! Don't worry though, I didn't put up a picture.

I KNOW! My daughter's nursery school class mascot was an owl and I was the only one who found that even remotely odd. It's a bird of prey for crying out loud!
