So I've learned how to negotiate with The King.
Take away his internet.
He really, really loves the internet.
He loves it so much, in fact, that he's willing to do this...
That's The King and some other crazy dude up there in that bucket.
The King hired a bucket truck to see if could see some internet tower thingy over there somewhere.
If he could see it, he was assured that we could receive the internet signals that magically float through the air.
Well.
He could see it.
WHEN HE WAS FORTY FEET IN THE AIR.
Which means we'll have a FORTY FOOT TOWER IN OUR YARD.
Was I clear?
THERE IS GOING TO BE A TOWER IN MY YARD THAT STANDS FORTY FEET IN THE AIR.
Sidebar: There is not any modern convenience for which I would willingly place myself in this situation...
Do you see what The King is doing?
He is leaning over the edge of the bucket while dropping a tape measure to the ground.
This is the handy way in which he measured how tall our new yard ornament will need to stand.
Won't it be lovely?
My friend, Shelley, suggested we try this.

Yay despite the fourty feet of it!!

But it would be such a pretty yard ornament.

Seriously though, I love that he loves in internet as much as I'm guessing you do. I hadn't thought about putting up an antenna. TOTALLY worth it.

Can you find a really large flamingo to camouflage the tower....or a cow statue, you really like cows...? what about a palm tree...or I know....a razorback!?!?!

I have an old christmas tree you can dismantle for branches if you want?

Oh man...you should decorate it. Make it blend...or something.

So maybe you could turn it into a really big clothesline:)
Since you're gonna be country and all.

Wow. That's going to be really fun at Christmas. You could put a big wreath on it. It'll be like Texas which has an oil rig on every block. You already have the cows. I think I'd favor the dish, you could at least hide it behind a barn.

We have a cell phone tower in our backyard - it was here before we were here, though. But we have affectionately named it "Rudolph" because of the blinking light. That's how the girls know were home at night, "Look, there's Rudolph!"

makes my knees weak just looking at that pic! The King just loves you, he'll do anything for ya! Good luck and I have an old tree you could use too! (BTW... I wish we had an oil rig oin our yard!!)

Maybe you could hang some pretty bird houses and feeders from it?
Anything for internet, right?

Paint it the same color as the house and call it a day!

I'm with Shelley. How about painting the tower red, re-cycling your old Christmas tree by wiring the branches to the red pole, and there you go...a giant redwood. Right on your farm. Be sure to take pictures, including those of your new cowboy boots.

oh my goodnes...
i love my internet but wouldn't it be better to just do a cell phone internet card?

I don't know... imagine what a statement you'd make each December when you put holiday lights on it and a star on top. You could even have a living nativity there - people from all over would follow that star. Think of the witnessing opportunities!

I like the idea of decorating it at Christmas! How fun!
