The King Fell Down And Broke His Crown

I'm totally not talking about all that again today, but wouldn't that have been the perfect title for yesterday's post?

Karen thought of it, and it was just too good not to use.

So I'm using it today.

Moving on.

Are you ready to hear about the giveaway that I promised??

Hold on to your computers...

It's The King's crown!!

I'm totally kidding.  He never "found" it.  And I can promise you he was looking.

I'm just sayin'.

Here's the story on the real giveaway.

Assuming you are still reading and not throwing up.

Where was I?

So we went to this fundraiser thing for The Princess' school on Saturday night.  To be honest, I was dreading it a little bit.  Each ticket was $75.  There was a silent auction, which I knew would be a huge temptation to spend money that I am supposed to be not spending.

I must say that I was quite impressed with the silent auction.  There were some great items.  I scored 4 house cleaning sessions for not too much money.  And dog boarding at the place where we usually board our dogs.

So that was just plain being responsible.

Oh. And I got in a tiny bidding war with a certain someone over a Cold Stone Creamery cake.  (You know who you are, TG.)  But I didn't win the cake because I was showing fiscal discipline.

Or was I hovering over the housecleaning bid sheet?  I can't recall....

My favorite part of the night, however, was the entertainment.

Warren Barfield was kind enough to bless our small school fundraiser with his incredible talent.

I was familiar with a few of his songs, but I didn't really know much about him.

Y'all.  He's a really cool guy.

His song, Love Is Not A Fight, is THE song from the movie, Fireproof.  He shared his story of how that song came about, and it was very powerful.

Did I mention that he's a really cool guy?

The concert was very intimate and personal.  He just sat on a stool with his guitar and his drummer and blessed us for an hour.  And the most amazing part?

He drove himself 8 hours (one way!) from Nashville.  In his car.  To our little event.

How un-rock-star-like is that?

See?  Cool guy.

And he signed a copy of his latest CD, Worth Fighting For, for me to give to one of you.

It is a phenomenal CD.  If you don't win this copy, you should buy one for yourself and several for Christmas gifts.

Oh.  And his first baby is due in about (his words) 50 days.

How sweet is that?

Just leave me a comment with a way to contact you, and I'll randomly pick a winner on Friday.

Happy Tuesday.

Great! I am in...

We love all the cool things they come up with for our school's silent auction in the spring! We scored some good Christmas gifts at last years.

Very cool and very sweet! Thanks for sharing!

Be blessed.

Loved that movie. Would probably love that cd as well.
I have been in those bidding wars. I would have won the giant basket of hair product love but my opponent's spouse was about 6'11 and gave my husband the death glare.Whatev. So my hair is dull and flat.
Maybe I'll win the cd!

That sounds really cool. Thanks.

Can't wait to win that CD! ;0) I'm thinking positive thoughts.

Would love to share that CD with my community group! We are getting ready to do a marriage study from the movie.

How cool! I loved the music on Fireproof so I'm sure I would love that CD. THanks!

I haven't seen the movie, but our church has shown enough clips I feel like I have! Hubby and I will go over Thanksgiving weekend.

Sounds like a good CD! Thanks!

First time commenter, I have enjoyed reading your blog for about a month now. I would love to win a new CD. Keep up the great stories. BTW, I am the homeschooling mom of an only daughter, so I can so identify with some of your posts.

Yes, you definitely needed to use that title.

I would so love the cd. I'm trying to score bunches of great music for my ipod and am trying to resist the lure of all of my dreadfully old cd's.

LOVE the title! ROFL!

I love trying out new music. What a great give away! And Fireproof is my current favorite movie.
Thanks!
