I can feel the disappointment of the beginning of the end of the vacation starting to set in.
Today was stormy. Not much going on.
We began at the Waffle House. It is close to where we are staying, and The King could only look at it so many times before insisting that we partake of the waffle.
However.
I kept smelling something really nasty and couldn't figure out what it was. Until I looked over the wall thing and saw that I was next to the trash can. Which almost made me dry heave.
Oh, I kid. I totally finished my waffle.
But I was grossed out.
The King, The Princess and I then drove about an hour to a car dealership. The King is all about fuel economy these days. He has been wanting to trade my 4runner for a hybrid car but we've not been able to find the one he we wanted in Arkansas. He worked out a deal with the Florida dealership for us to trade while we were here. He We could trade for a deal that he we couldn't pass up.
Here's the problem: I am not really sure that our luggage will fit in the trunk of the car.
First of all, it is a car. Second of all, the battery for the hybrid is in the trunk. Which takes up about a quarter of the space.
It is not very promising.
So we picked up the car and grabbed a Large Sonic Diet Coke (hallelujah) and headed back to the house.
Where I napped.
Then we went to a totally fabulous place for supper. (Thank you, Robyn.) I had yummy pork tenderloin on a yummy bed of mashed sweet potatoes with a not-as-yummy piece of key lime pie.
We ate outside and it was lovely. QM really likes a live band. She said so at least 47 times.
QM really likes a live band.
Nannie does not like eating outside so much. She said so at least 47 times.
Then The Princess had a little more action.
When did she become such a thrill seeker?
We finished up at a tacky little souvenir shop. Which The Princess was all about. But then we had to quickly leave for an impending bathroom situation.
Tomorrow is our next to last day of vacation. I so love just being with my family without the craziness of everyday stuff. I wish that I could figure out how to get that same feeling at home. You know...make our home have the same relaxed feeling of being away...where the everyday "stuff" just doesn't get to us.
I'll work on that.

Ok, if you are in the Destin area have you been to the Donut Hole for breakfast? It's on Hwy 98 just East of Destin. It is delicious and a tradition every time we are in the area. And your little princess would just l-o-v-e the donuts!!
My princess did the trampoline thingy too. I thought those "little boys" running it were going to eject her up into space!

Thrill seeking after dinner would cause me to have a bathroom situation. Oh I kid, thrill seeking before dinner would, too! Have a great last day!

Can't wait to see the new ride and who knew the Princess had so many desires to try new and "thrilling" activities! Can't wait to hear more!

Your kid knows she has to go back home to her little zip line, right? I'm thinking after this trip it might be a little tame for her seeing as how she is now a full-fledged dare devil.
I hope your last two days are sunny and beautiful!

Oh my heavens I could use some Waffle House about now. There is nothing like it in the world.
And I don't want to know what was in the corner. Never.

Waffle House, new car, great dining and training for Stunt Woman is not action-packed enough? Our fam vacations at the lake would b o r e the beegeebees out of ya then for sure! Excitement for us is finding a giant clam or refueling at a real marina (instead of the whole get the boat back on the trailer to go the nearest town to get cheaper gas thing...) Waffle House? THAT kind of vacation will only continue to be a pipe dream for the Shooter family...

You're welcome. :)

I hate the end of vacations. Why does a week on the beach go by 10x faster than a week at home?
Posted by: pinkmommy | May 16, 2008 at 07:31 AM
Yep, here comes the rain!
If you figure out how to have "vacation attitude" at home, you will share, won't you?

When you get it figured out, please let me know!

The princess is brave! I totally get that last comment - people always tell us we don't need to go on vacation since we live on vacation but when it's your home it's just not the same thing.

I am always so ready to go home by the second to last day of my vacation. Not quite sure why that is - but it doesn't matter if my vacation is 3 days or 10 days - I am positively ready to get back home.
I keep trying to guess where in FL you are - I'm going to quit guessing. It was sunshiney beautiful here in Jacksonville yesterday, so I guess you weren't here. LOL
I am not sure what it is about a Waffle House, but my husband always wants to go to those when we are on vacation, too!
Good luck with that hybrid!
Have a great day!

Your daughter is amazing. I wish I had half of her bravery! What kind of car did you get?

I have enjoyed reading your vacation adventures. Sounds good. Except for the sunburn and all...

Maybe the thrill seeking started with that thing in your yard...We ate at the Waffle House once - never again.

Ah, if you do figure out how to keep that vacation feeling at home, make sure you blog about it. I'd definitely be interested.
It sure does look like The Princess is having a great time...and wow, what a thrill seeker she is! The dolphin I might do, the trampoline...maybe, but there is no way I would have attempted parasailing. AUGH!
Enjoy the remainder of your vacation!
I tagged you on my blog, http://mrscjallen.wordpress.com/2008/05/16/all-about-me/.

Did you get the pecan waffles?! They are goodness like none other.
However, I always get them to go because the Waffle House "ambiance" takes away from the flavor.
As you already figured out!

Congrats on the new car! Is it the Camry Hybrid? What color? Did you get your nav and heated leather seats?
FYI~I've heard you can get luggaged FedExed back to home at a reasonable price and very quickly. Just a thought in case everything doesn't fit!
