Life's A Beach Part 4

When I think of vacations, I generally think of lots of rest & relaxation.

Well. Not this time.

I am averaging 5 hours of sleep per night.

I require 8. Minimum.

And it is not because I'm having wild nights on the town.

It is because of this.

And this.

P1020078

And these.

P1020077

These hideous windows are in my bedroom.

And in Florida it goes from dark to light at 6:45 a.m.

And guess who is wide awake?

And unable to go back to sleep?

It's not The King.

So I went on a little errand today.

P1020122

And bought a sleeping mask thing.

Look at the back side...

P1020123

Aahhhh. Total darkness.

We'll see if it works.

And in other vacation news...you know how I have very limited sunblock application skills?

Well. I was left to my own devices this morning and check out the results.

Yes, that is my thigh.

Get over it.

And please note the thumb print on my shin. That takes talent.

I'm fussy and tired and sore and that's all I've got for now.

Later.

I have been up before six both days this week because of the bright daylight in my room from having the window open. I am a little crabby around 2pm. And 9am.

I'd say your leg was a little more than tingly...it looks like it was sizzlin'.
Your leg looks totally painful and I'm thinking you may have sunstroke as you just put your thigh on the internet.

Oh my! Let me know what sunscreen that is so that I can not buy it. I'm sorry for your pain, but it did make me giggle a bit.:)

I have to admit, seeing the sunburned thigh did make me laugh a bit. As for the windows...oh how I hope you sleep b/c isn't that what vacation is all about?

Oh you poor thing! I am ok at sunscreen, but I always miss my feet for some reason. I guess I think the sun won't hit there. I hope the pain gets better!!

Sleep masks are the greatest invention EVER! I use one every night.

Oh my, I have a sleep mask too...it's made of that contour foam! Once the light cracks through my blinds I am up. *sigh*

Ok, the leg thing is just too much. The EXACT thing happened to me in Destin. Mine is finally peeling two weeks later.

Perhaps is a Bermuda Triangle type thing down there. Or just my ADD. You should check my blog post on it, if the Beach Palace gets too boring.

Ack! Not the dreaded semi-circle window. Oh how I dread those things.

And for the burn, 3 words. Refrigerated aloe vera.

Here is hoping you get some sleep tonight.
So sorry the sunblock application did not work out. That usually happens to me when I let one of the kids help. I love the sprays. They work better for me than lotions. Have you tried those?
Go slather on the aloe and take some ibuprofen. You will be better by morning!

Ouch. That looks painful.

I grew up in Michigan - we got about 5 sunny days a year (OK maybe 50, but that'd be pushing it) so I moved to Florida a few years back and one of my first purchases was a sleep mask. I no longer need the sleep mask when I am home because I have thick, dark curtains on all windows. When it is nighttime, they are shut tight.

I've stayed in a few of those "beach condos" that have all the windows and no coverings. That isn't relaxing! I hope you get some shut eye.

I'm glad you finally got some nice weather & I'm so excited that your daughter got to fulfill a dream (from the dolphin post)

I, too, can be "sunscreen challenged." It's NO fun. I hope you feel better soon.

Wasn't there some cute cabana boy around to help you smooth that sunscreen around?? You poor thang!

You need that spray sunscreen - we couldn't live without it. You can get it really cheap at Target (we of course bring over suitcases of it).

A little clarification. Queen B DID have spray on sunscreen. SHE CANNOT DO IT. She is burned in places no woman should ever have to treat a sunburn. Her face? Raccoon eyes. Poor thing.

That looks painful. But I did get a chuckle at your expense. I'm sorry. I have to say, though, I LOVE THE MORNING SUN. I am one of those awful morning people that likes to get up early on vacation and have coffee out on the deck and watch the pelicans and the ocean. I'm sorry for that, too.

Oh, you poor sunburned, sleep-deprived thing you!!

But...wait...didn't I tell you that you didn't really want to spend your vacation at the beach?! ;-)

Ouch! I'm betting you'll get a little help with the application process from now on, I hope!

Ouch, that leg does not look comfortable. Beautiful, but not comfortable. Please make your husband put it on you from now on.

And well done on the sleep mask. I need one of those for my house. Do they have anything that will silence the birds that start chirping at five a.m.?

Spray sunblock works really well. No rubbing involved! OUCH!

I believe the sleep mask is a wonderful invention. I have to use earplugs from time to time - very light sleeper. Sorry for your poor leg. We're having a heatwave this week...triple digits, and hubby is out golfing in that hot sun for his bday today, so I reminded him several times to slather himself in sunscreen, I hope he remembered. And I hope the mask gives you a little relief and that you thoroughly enjoy the rest of your vacation. Thanks for letting your readers keep in touch while you're away. :)

OMG (said in a teen age valley girl voice) I am right there with you on the sunscreen. I have heavy upper arms (we won't mention the rest) and it never fails that I miss areas. It is very odd to walk around in a sleeveless shirt and have strangers come up to you and ask "is that a handprint on your arm?" Why yes it is. Thank you for pointing it!

I have so done that with sunblock before! Ouch!!

I'm overnighting some aloe.

And if it makes you feel better, our sunrise is at 5:45 AM tomorrow. I just keep praying the kids don't notice, because then I'll be doomed.

When in doubt, overprotect. Go pay more money than should be allowed to charge, get the aresol spray can, and go through about a can a day. Learned this when DH got sunburned one summer on the first day of our trip and refused to come out of the condo the rest of the week...except at night. What part of FL are you staying in?

HILARIOUS! That's my back when Hubby puts sunscreen on me. Somehow, I think he would be more thorough if my back were made of, say, chrome.

I have the darkest bedroom in all the world...It is amazing. Even in the morning. But! That is causing a bit of a problem in the mothering department.

Love your sunscreen application. Lovely!
