So I've been a little bit distracted the past few days.
I've forgotten to do some things that I was supposed to do.
Like work.
The King mandates that his mama and I do his bookkeeping each month.
Which reeks.
But if his mama is kind enough to do his dirty work, I'm certainly not saying no.
Because that would not get me any daughter-in-law bonus points. And I crave the daughter-in-law bonus points.
Oh. And I want to help my husband. If I have to.
I spent most of yesterday in a complete and utter panic. I had too much to do. I didn't get the work done.
I was supposed to have the work done by the 10th.
It is now the 12th.
And I haven't started the work.
So I'm gonna spend today sulking. And working. But mostly sulking. I may throw in a little complaining. Perhaps.
I am now through with my pity party. Thank you for coming. There are no party favors. I wish there were.
I've also forgotten to fill out my nephew's school fundraiser thing that is due today.
His school is selling magazine subscriptions this year. (Which are preferred to the nasty frozen braided bread loaves that the other nephew is selling.)
I don't want to make a rash & irresponsible magazine selection. A girl only gets so many subscriptions, you know.
What do you like to read? What is worth my time and money?
I am the current recipient of:
Southern Living (have gotten this for 14 years--can't stop now)
Cottage Living (I love me a cottage. I live in one in my pretend world. The place where I don't work.)
Simple & Delicious (my fave!!)
Better Homes & Gardens (kindly provided by my mother-in-law...which is what the bonus points can do for you)
People (Stop the judging. The Queen Mother provides this one.)
When I open the mailbox and see a little bit of periodical deliciousness waiting for me...
It's big, y'all.
It's an event. Bubble bath. Diet Pepsi with crunchy ice. An event. (Or is that in pretend world?)
I need suggestions. And quick. The order is due today!! And I don't dare stop the working.
*disclaimer: I am so sorry for the whining. Please forgive me. I am happy to have a husband. I am happy to help him. I LIVE to help him. I am grateful for the braided bread. I am thankful to be the recipient of pointless periodicals. I am blooming where I'm planted, etc.

Some of the best recipes I have came from Southern Living.
Love Cottage Living
Love Martha Stewart
Love Home Companion
Better Homes and Gardens has one called 100 Decorating Ideas that's great for ,well, ideas and inspiration. I used to love BH&G but they took their "look" retro. I know retro is in but not for me!
Hope you make a dent in your work today!

I love to peek through Cottage Living when grocery shopping, but cannot subscribe to anymore, I'm afraid. I actually overdid it again this year with the girls' magazine fundraisers. I added Domino, O at Home, and some others that, sad to say, I don't even remember at the moment. (I keep reminding myself that I won't be able to finish all of these in my lifetime.)
I agree that Real Simple is a wonderful magazine, especially for organization tips.

I like Traditional Home for home decor ideas. Self is a good one for healthy eating, exercise ie, things concerning "self".
I can't wait to order Simple & Delicious myself. Thanks for the tip!

I like REAL SIMPLE magazine.

Oh, I wish I could look forward to "People" in my mailbox each week. Too expensive for us though.

i highly recommend "Real Simple" magazine. I live in Mexico, so I don't have a subscription, but boy howdy do I get excited when I happen to find it here or someone brings me a copy!! It's a great mix of recipes, decorating and other stories. I absolutely love it!

So many great suggestions! I may have to add a few of them to my list...
I currently get Country Living, Country Home, Midwest Living, BH&G, and Domino. Domino was a free subscription that I received from Amazon.com (did you know they sell subscriptions?--Some for less than $10...you really should check it out). Anywhoo, can't say that I'm enjoying Domino so much--thankfully it was free. My very favorite is Country Home. I have received Real Simple in the past and enjoyed it. Let us know what you decide! :) Here's to procrastinating--the laundry WILL eventually fold itself, right?

I am right there with you on the book keeping. My husband has his own business and is extrememly busy. I am his unpaid book keeper. I keep thinking if I do a bad enough job he will eventually fire me and hire someone who knows what they are doing. So far, no luck! I have to get all our tax info together this week and get it to the accountant before I am stuck trying to figure out our taxes too. Pray for me!!!

I have to confess...of the ones you already get, I'd probably reach for the People magazine first. :-/
As for suggestions -- I have been a subscribe to Family Circle about as long as you have Southern Living and I still love it. You get a little bit of everything in it. I also really enjoyed Cooking Light, despite the fact that cooking light apparently doesn't also mean cooking inexpensively because I couldn't afford to make most of their dishes. Still, it was fun looking at the pretty, pretty food. :)

I enjoy Domino, People and sometimes
Dwell. I am a magazine nut. Lots of
different kinds, depends on the mood.
Used to love Elle, haven't gotten it in a long time. Oh, also Lucky.

I'm turning a bit green ... around here we receive Fortune, Roundel, National Geographic, Bavarian Autosport, InfoWorld and Network Magazine ... and no, they aren't worth a bubble bath, and certainly not worth a Diet soda with crushed ice.

I get quite a bit of magazines. I find they pile up and I have to set aside time to read them. They are: Southern Living, Better Homes and Gardens, Fitness, All Me, Family Circle, Family Fun, Martha Stewart Living, & Everyday Food. I think my 2 favorites are Southern Living and All Me.
